Installation

Introduction

The installation process should be fairly self evident.

Booting

Insert the CD into your machine and select option 2 (installer) and wait for the installer window to appear.

Legal stuff

If you agree things can move on

Partitioning

One step that might still be a little tedious in the install process is the creation of a partition.

  1. If you have a blank disk in your machine you will be dropped into a cfdisk interface where you can parition your drive.
    • If the drive is not blank you will have menu options to select what to do.
  2. Once in cfdisk and the drive is blank it will ask to create a partition table select DOS partition table
  3. Just select new partition and leave some space for a swap partition.
  4. Make sure the type is Linux and make sure the bootable flag is set
  5. Create a second partition and change the type to Linux swap.
  6. If you know what you are doing or are not in danger of losing data select write and type “yes”
  7. The system will now reboot to rerun the installer.

Run the installer

Go through the installer again and select the first disk we just made as the target.

  1. Wait until the installer is finished.
  2. You will be prompted for your new hostname and root password
  3. System will now reboot
  4. Eject the CD before boot screen to boot from disk
