Partitioning
One step that might still be a little tedious in the install process is the creation of a partition.
- If you have a blank disk in your machine you will be dropped into a cfdisk interface where you can parition your drive.
- If the drive is not blank you will have menu options to select what to do.
- Once in cfdisk and the drive is blank it will ask to create a partition table select DOS partition table
- Just select new partition and leave some space for a swap partition.
- Make sure the type is Linux and make sure the bootable flag is set
- Create a second partition and change the type to Linux swap.
- If you know what you are doing or are not in danger of losing data select write and type “yes”
- The system will now reboot to rerun the installer.
Run the installer
Go through the installer again and select the first disk we just made as the target.
- Wait until the installer is finished.
- You will be prompted for your new hostname and root password
- System will now reboot
- Eject the CD before boot screen to boot from disk
